About us

Imbedded in the heart of the GIGA institute is the genomics core facility. It is involved in many studies applying high throughput analysis of nucleic acids. Huge advances in DNA/RNA sequencing technologies, have created an access to the understanding of the dynamics of whole genomes.

Besides technological advances reducing the per base sequencing cost drastically, the number of applications that make use of the power of high throughput sequencing has risen substantially. The secret in applying NGS successfully mainly resides in the library construction. Tagging and targeting properly is what makes NGS so powerful.

The Genomics platform offers a wide range of services, from simple fragment length analysis over conventional Sanger sequencing, to high throughput sequencing and assembling of complex genomes or transcriptomes.

Besides off the shelf services, collaborative projects are within the scope of our activities, from discussion on experimental design to analysis of the data.
